    What is a Calibrator?

A Calibrator is an electrical device that simulates, and often measures, electrical signals such as voltage, current, and temperature (millivolts). Voltage and Current signals are referred to as ‘Process’ signals. These electrical signals simulate real world applications.

    How are Calibrators used?

Calibrators are used to confi gure, calibrate, verify, and test a multitude of applications. For example, scales and ranges can be setup, adjusted, and verifi ed on indicators and panel meters; Thermometers and other sensors can be tested for accuracy; Application simulations can be run on process controllers; Chart recorders, data-loggers, and other such data capturing devices can be confi gured, scaled, and tested.

    Typical Calibrator Applications:

    • Confi gure the range & scale of indicators, process controllers, & recorders
    • Determine if a sensor is in need of replacing
    • Verify that products are manufactured in accordance with design or regulatory specifi cations
    • Assist in ISO-9001 and other Quality Systems, as to calibration lab compliance, documentation, and equipment verifi cation

    Choosing a Calibrator

    Temperature Calibrators
In applications where temperature is measured, displayed, and controlled you’ll fi nd devices such as sensors (thermocouples), indicators (panel meters), process controllers, chart recorders, and data-loggers. These devices must be confi gured and checked periodically and that is why a Calibrator is required. For temperature calibration calibrators, select the low cost 433201or the multi-function 412400.

    Current/Voltage Calibrators
Easily simulate process signals such as current and voltage.

    Multifunction Calibrators
Can source/measure Current, Voltage and Temperature signals
